What was your job at the IRS?

I was a Revenue Agent, in other words an IRS auditor, for the Internal Revenue Service for seventeen years, auditing small businesses and self-employed taxpayers. I also worked in the Special Enforcement Program, was a lead auditor by the time I left, and was Lead Instructor for Revenue Agent Basic Training, so I taught auditors how to do this work.

I audited sole proprietorships, partnerships, S-corporations, small C-corporations and high-income individuals. In the Special Enforcement Program I worked complex examinations: cash-intensive businesses, non-filed returns and unreported income cases. I was an IRS-certified instructor for more than a decade, and I was trained by the IRS as a Summary Expert Witness.

I spent seventeen years looking at records after the fact, when it was too late to fix them. I started this firm so I could work with small businesses and solopreneurs and have the records be right the first time.

Today I’m a Certified Public Accountant in Washington State, License #50082, with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Whitworth University and Gonzaga University in Spokane.

It doesn't have to be hard. It just needs to be right.
